Best Website Design Price in Malaysia
Two Malaysian studios can quote RM3,500 and RM11,500 for what sounds like the same eight-page website. Owners read that gap as one firm being honest and the other greedy. More often, they are pricing different jobs and neither has said so.
Most Malaysian business websites are quoted between RM3,000 and RM15,000 as a one-off build, or RM300 to RM1,500 a month on a plan. The right number depends on page count, who writes the content, and whether the site must sell or explain. Judge a quote by what you own at the end. IZI's website work starts from RM500/mo.
This page is the hub for website design price in Malaysia in 2026. It covers market bands by build route, the drivers that move a quote, the running costs outside the build fee, and how to size a budget you can defend. It reads prices; it is not a rate card.
First, a primer on where website money goes.
What Does a Website Actually Cost in Malaysia?
A small brochure site in Malaysia runs RM1,500 to RM5,000; a business site with real content sits nearer RM8,000 to RM15,000. Monthly plans spread that same work across a contract term instead. Scope your website design project before comparing any figures.
A price means something only once you know what it buys. A website quote buys design decisions, build hours and content production, in that order of impact. Hosting and the domain are the smallest lines, though owners ask about them first.
The same RM6,000 looks generous in one proposal, thin in another:
- Pages versus templates. Ten pages from two templates is a fraction of the work of ten designed pages.
- Who writes the words. Copywriting is the largest hidden line. Supply it late and the project stalls.
- What the site must do. Explaining a service is cheap. Taking bookings, payments or stock is not.
- What you own afterwards. A build you can move to another host beats a cheaper one locked to a supplier.
Web presence is now normal among Malaysian establishments, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia's establishment survey on ICT and e-commerce use. The question is how much yours must outperform the shop two doors down.
Bottom Line: Price the job, not the page count. Two quotes compare only once both name the same design depth, content responsibility and ownership terms.
Holding two quotes RM8,000 apart? A 30-minute scope comparison usually explains the gap. Compare website design packages
Why Do Two Website Quotes Differ by RM8,000?
Large quote gaps trace to four unstated assumptions: template or custom design, who supplies content, how many revision rounds, and whether the price includes a year of support. Ask the same four questions of every website designer in Malaysia and the gap shrinks.
Quotes rarely lie. They compress. A one-line "8-page corporate website" hides decisions worth thousands of ringgit, and buyers find out which ones when the invoice for extras arrives. Force that compression open with four questions:
- Is the design custom or template-led? Both are legitimate. Only one has a designer drawing your pages from scratch.
- Who writes and edits the copy? Get it in writing, with what happens if your text arrives four weeks late.
- How many revision rounds are included? Two is the market norm; the third is where budgets quietly break.
- What happens after launch? Ask what month two costs: updates, licences, backups, and who fixes a broken form at 9pm.
Bottom Line: A quote gap is an information gap. The cheapest quote usually assumed you would supply everything, which moves cost to your team rather than removing it. Close the gap with four written answers before deciding on price.
What Are the Typical Website Price Bands in Malaysia?
Malaysian website pricing separates into five recognisable routes, from DIY builders under RM1,000 to e-commerce builds past RM30,000. Each route buys a different amount of thinking. The model below maps the bands so you can place your own brief before speaking to any professional website designer.
Route matters more than supplier. A freelancer and a studio quoting the same route land closer together than two studios on different routes.
Website Price Bands by Build Route (2026)
| Build route | One-off build (RM) | Monthly plan (RM) | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| DIY builder | 0–800 | 60–250 | Testing an idea, one or two pages |
| Freelancer | 1,500–5,000 | 0–300 | Small brochure site, owner manages content |
| Template studio | 3,000–8,000 | 100–500 | Five to twelve pages, standard features |
| Consultancy-led build | 8,000–25,000 | 500–2,000 | Sites carrying real enquiry volume |
| E-commerce build | 12,000–60,000 | 800–3,000 | Catalogue, payment and delivery flows |

Read the table sideways. Moving from a template studio to a consultancy-led build roughly doubles the fee, and should buy positioning, page structure and measurement, not just prettier layouts. Choose your route first, then negotiate inside it.
What Drives a Website Price Up or Down in Malaysia?
Six drivers move most Malaysian website quotes: design depth, content ownership, language versions, integrations, transactions and measurement. Page count is a weak predictor by comparison. Decide which of the six you genuinely need before briefing anyone on website design in Malaysia.
Owners negotiate on page count because it is the one number they can see. Studios price complexity, so cutting two pages rarely cuts the fee.
- Design depth. Template-adapted, template-plus-custom sections, or fully drawn pages. The biggest lever.
- Content ownership. Copy, photography and translation are production, not admin. Someone pays, in cash or hours.
- Language versions. A Bahasa Malaysia or Chinese version is a second content set, not a toggle.
- Integrations. Booking systems, CRM, WhatsApp routing and inventory feeds carry testing time.
- Transactions. Payment gateways bring compliance, testing and failure handling.
- Measurement. Tracking is cheap during a build and expensive to retrofit.
Speed belongs on the list too. Google's Core Web Vitals thresholds are 2.5 seconds for Largest Contentful Paint, 200 milliseconds for Interaction to Next Paint and 0.1 for Cumulative Layout Shift. Hitting them takes disciplined images, fewer plugins and testing — build time somebody pays for.
Consultant's Note: The false economy I see most in Malaysian projects is buying design depth and skimping on copywriting. A beautiful site with weak text converts worse than a plain one that answers a buyer's three real questions. If budget is tight, cut a page, not the words.
Bottom Line: Six drivers set the website design price in Malaysia, and page count is not one. Decide which you need, then let the quote follow.
How Much Does Each Driver Add to a Website Quote?
The same driver costs different money on different sites. Copywriting adds a few hundred ringgit to a brochure site and several thousand to a shop. The grid prices each driver against three common briefs, so you can estimate before requesting website design packages.
Added Cost by Driver × Site Type (RM)
| Driver | Brochure (5 pages) | Service site (10–15) | E-commerce |
|---|---|---|---|
| Custom design over template | 800–2,500 | 2,000–6,000 | 3,000–9,000 |
| Copywriting by the studio | 600–1,800 | 1,500–4,000 | 2,500–6,000 |
| Second language version | 500–1,200 | 1,200–3,000 | 2,000–5,000 |
| Booking or CRM integration | 400–1,500 | 1,000–3,500 | 2,000–7,000 |
| Payment and delivery setup | Not applicable | 1,000–3,000 | 2,500–8,000 |
| Analytics and conversion tracking | 300–800 | 600–1,500 | 900–2,500 |

Two patterns matter. Copywriting scales with the number of things you sell, not the pages. And tracking is the cheapest row on every site type, so it should never be the line you cut. Build your estimate driver by driver, then compare it to the quote.
The IZI Blueprint finds where you leak customers, makes the channel, budget and offer decisions, launches them in the right sequence, and measures against numbers that map to revenue.
One-Off Build or Monthly Plan: Which Should You Choose?
A one-off build costs more upfront and leaves you owning the asset. A monthly plan protects cash flow and bundles maintenance, but ownership terms vary and total cost overtakes a build by year three. Decide on cash and ownership, then read the wider digital marketing price picture.
Monthly plans solve a real problem: a young business rarely has RM10,000 spare before it has customers. The trade-off arrives at month thirteen.
DECISION BOX · BUILD ONCE OR PAY MONTHLY
| Option | Cash needed upfront | Ownership | Cost by year 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| One-off build | High — full fee on milestones | Yours, if the contract says so | Lower |
| Monthly plan | Low — first month only | Often the provider's until term ends | Higher, but predictable |
| Build plus care plan | Medium — staged | Yours from launch | Middle |
Verdict: Choose a monthly plan if cash flow is the binding constraint; choose a one-off build with a care plan if the site must carry your main enquiry channel for three years.
Whichever route you take, settle two clauses in writing: who holds the domain, and what you receive if you leave. A plan you can exit with your files is a service; one you cannot is rental.

What Does the First-Year Cost of a Website Look Like?
The build fee is roughly four-fifths of what a Malaysian website costs in year one. Domain, hosting, licences, maintenance and service tax make up the rest, commonly RM900 to RM6,000. Budget the whole stack before committing to an e-commerce website.
First-Year Website Cost by Tier
| Tier | First-year total | Total (RM) | Running costs (RM) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entry | 4,300 | 900 | |
| Standard | 11,600 | 2,100 | |
| Advanced | 22,000 | 3,800 | |
| E-commerce | 37,500 | 6,000 |

Service tax is the line most quotes mention last. The Ministry of Finance widened service tax scope from 1 July 2025, so ask whether each figure is before or after tax. On a RM20,000 build, that question is worth RM1,600.
Which Website Costs Do Malaysian Quotes Usually Leave Out?
Six costs sit outside most Malaysian website quotes: the domain, plugin renewals, photography, content migration, post-launch fixes and service tax. None is large alone; together they routinely add 10% to 20% to the total. Check each one against any website package before signing.
These are not scams — a studio cannot price them until it sees your material, which is why they arrive late.
- The domain in your own name. MYNIC administers .my addresses through appointed registrars, and its buying-a-domain guidance notes registry prices exclude 8% service tax.
- Plugin and theme renewals. Licences renew annually, and a lapsed one stops security updates.
- Photography. Real photos of your premises beat stock, and cost either money or a Saturday.
- Content migration. Moving 40 old blog posts is data entry someone must do properly.
- Post-launch fixes. Ask in writing what the first 30 days after launch include.
- Service tax. Confirm whether the figures you have seen are inclusive.
One item works in your favour. MDEC's Geran Digital PMKS Madani gives eligible Malaysian SMEs a 50% matching grant of up to RM5,000 for approved digital solutions, website development included. It reimburses through an approved provider, so check eligibility before work starts.
Bottom Line: Ask for the exclusions list in writing. A supplier who can name what is not included has usually priced properly.
Where Are Malaysian Website Prices Heading?
Build fees are drifting up slowly, hosting and licence costs faster, while content production has flattened as writing tools improve. The practical effect is that recurring costs, not build fees, are where Malaysian budgets get squeezed — the same pattern visible in SEO pricing in Malaysia.

Budget only for the build and the years that hurt are two and three, when licences renew and nobody set money aside. Put a maintenance figure in the year-one plan.
How Should You Set Your Website Budget?
Set the budget from the value of one customer, not from a package tier. Work out what a customer is worth, how many extra enquiries the site must produce, and what that is worth over two years. The same logic drives digital marketing budgets.
How to set a website budget you can defend
Four steps, in order. Twenty minutes with a calculator gives you a figure you can defend to a partner or a bank.
- Value one customer. Average order value multiplied by repeat purchases in two years. A RM800 job repeated twice is a RM1,600 customer.
- Set the extra-enquiry target. How many more enquiries a month must the site produce to be worth rebuilding? Three is a real answer.
- Convert to two-year value. Multiply enquiries by close rate, then customer value, then 24 months. That is the ceiling.
- Spend a fraction of it. A build costing 10% to 20% of that two-year value is defensible. Anything near the ceiling needs a stronger reason.
Run this before you collect quotes. Owners who do stop asking "is RM12,000 expensive?" and start asking "is RM12,000 expensive for four extra enquiries a month?" — a question with an answer.
Bottom Line: Your budget is an output of customer value and enquiry targets. Working backwards from a package tier gets the arithmetic the wrong way round.

How Do You Test a Website Quote Before You Sign?
Test a quote on five things: named deliverables, revision limits, content responsibility, asset ownership and the month-two cost. A supplier who answers all five in writing is usually pricing honestly. Weigh those answers alongside how you choose a website designer in Malaysia.
Price tests are promise tests. These five are deliberately boring, because vague answers show up fastest against boring questions.
- Name every deliverable. "Full website" is not one. "Twelve pages, two designed templates, one contact form, tracking installed" is.
- Cap the revisions. Two rounds included, the third at a stated hourly rate.
- Assign content in writing. Who writes, who supplies photos, and the due date.
- Confirm ownership. Domain and hosting in your company name, files handed over at launch.
- Ask for the month-two invoice. If nobody can say what month two costs, the quote is incomplete.
Consultant's Note: If a supplier resists putting the domain in your company name, treat that as the whole answer rather than one detail. Everything else is negotiable later; a domain you do not control is the one thing you cannot fix after a fallout.
Where Does IZI Digital Marketing Sit on Website Price?
IZI Digital Marketing sits in the consultancy-led band, with website work from RM500/mo and pricing published rather than quoted on request. We are one option among many Malaysian providers, with scope and numbers on the same page. See IZI Digital Marketing for the full picture.
IZI DIGITAL CONSULTING SDN. BHD. is a Malaysian consulting-first firm with five service lines. Published starting points: website design from RM500/mo, SEO from RM2,500/mo, Google Ads from RM2,000/mo, Facebook Ads from RM2,200/mo, bundled digital marketing from RM2,000/mo.
Two things follow from that model, and both affect what you pay for:
- Diagnosis comes before the build. We work out what the site must produce before deciding how many pages it needs, which sometimes means recommending a smaller project.
- Ownership is the default. Domain, hosting and files sit in your name, so you are pricing an asset you keep.
If a template studio suits your brief better, take it. The criteria here work on any supplier, us included.
Bottom Line: Published starting prices let you disqualify a supplier in a minute rather than three meetings. Use that speed, whoever you hire.
The Best Website Design Price in Malaysia: The Verdict
The best website design price in Malaysia is the lowest first-year total that still buys the design depth, content and ownership your business needs. For most SMEs that lands between RM8,000 and RM15,000, or a monthly plan with clear exit terms and a route to a site you own.
Three conditional verdicts, depending on where you sit:
- Testing an unproven offer. Buy the smallest credible site and spend the difference finding out whether anyone wants what you sell.
- Established business, site carrying enquiries. Pay for the consultancy-led route. The gap between a RM5,000 and a RM12,000 site is usually recovered within a year.
- Cash-constrained but committed. Take a monthly plan, but only with written ownership and exit terms.
Whatever route you choose, decide the first-year number before you fall for a design. Discipline set early survives a project; discipline attempted at signing rarely does.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most Malaysian business websites are quoted between RM3,000 and RM15,000 as a one-off build. The figure depends on design depth and who writes the content, since those move a quote far more than page count does.
It is cheaper to start and usually dearer by year three. Which wins depends on how long you keep the site and what the contract says about ownership, since a plan that never transfers the files is a rental.
A DIY builder with your own copy is the cheapest credible route, at roughly RM60 to RM250 a month. Whether it suits you depends on what your time is worth, since DIY sites often cost more later in rework.
Yes, website development is among the approved digital solutions. Eligibility depends on SSM registration, Malaysian shareholding and using an approved provider, and the grant reimburses 50% up to RM5,000. Apply before work begins.
Because the pages are rarely the same job. A freelancer builds what you specify, while an agency prices the specification itself, plus testing and tracking. If you already know what the site must do, that premium is hard to justify.
